STEP 1

New tin!

Open your tin, take out the sealed pouch, and pour all the matcha into the tin.

Tip: Once opened, keep it tightly closed and store it in the refrigerator.

STEP 2

New Chasen!

Place the chasen (bamboo whisk) in a bowl of hot water (not boiling) for 30–60 seconds.

This softens the tines and helps prevent them from breaking while whisking.

STEP 3

Add the matcha and water

Add 3 g of matcha and 30 ml of hot water (70–80 °C) to the chawan.

STEP 4

OPTIONAL

Add 10 g of agave syrup.

STEP 5

Whisk with energy

Whisk vigorously with the chasen in a W or M motion for 15–25 seconds, lightly brushing the bottom.

Goal: dissolve any clumps and create a fine foam on the surface.

STEP 6

Enjoy your matcha

Add 150–200 ml of milk to the matcha.
